It was disappointing to realize the venison was only ground and not pieces. Why do you do this? Even so I managed to fine one piece the grinder missed. Oh well. Also, and I know you can't control the packing process completely, could've had more veges in it too. So, I didn't mind it, it wasn't horrible I just was expecting pieces of meat and that's my fault for not reading carefully.

This is very easy to prepare. Just add some boiling water, stir, seal the bag, wait about 10 minutes, open the bag and stir the contents and enjoy. The Chad Mendes inspired meals are all terrific. I think I like them more than the ordinary meals you can find because they are something that not every company has. Along with the meals they brought back I wish they would have brought back the elk meal. The bison, elk and venison are fantastic and should be a regular part of Peak Refuel offerings.

It is without hesitation, absolutely, unquestionably, without a reasonable doubt this is hands down the best freeze dried meal I have ever eaten. Being an outdoorsman, overlander, and someone of an emergency preparedness mindset I’ve had all freeze dried companies meals and not just the Mendes meals but all of Peak refuels meals have dethroned the best on the current market. Please do not let the Chad Mendes signature series menus only be a limited time offering. I speak for the masses when i say it would be in Peak Refuels best interest to keep your customers happy and never end this menu line. I will also be adding a ton of all Peak Refuels meals to my long term storage preparations. Sincerely thank you for all your hard work to make things easier for your customers.

The Venison casserole is a great meal that you look forward to the whole day. You can eat the meal alone right out of the bag or toss it over instant potatoes. Follow the directions on water amounts for the best results.

Tried all the Mendez meals last year and out of all of this one stood out the most for me. They are all good just really liked this one the most. Good experience all around with peak refuel. So much better then mountain house. Will continue to buy from peak refuel

This venison casserole is my favorite Mendes meal. I like it so much I served it for dinner to my neighbor for her 94th birthday without telling her and her son that it was a freeze-dried meal! They both LOVED it! I kid you not. I carried it over in a crock pot and they were none the wiser. Put a fresh salad with it and cake and ice cream for dessert, it was quite a nice dinner celebration - and oh, so easy! The ingredients aren't full of chemicals and preservatives, so I felt good serving it to them. Love it!

These Peak Refuel meals are absolutely the best on the market. I have been backpacking for over 50 years, and I will take nothing else for myself. My Boy Scout son is a vegetarian, so he enjoys Backpacker's Pantry Louisana Red Beans and Rice, which is good to me if I add some tuna fish or salmon jerky.

I'm a sucker for any casserole (read: unhealthy) recipe, but it's perfect for the trail. Really good and wish i had more. Oddly enough, the ingredient that was the best? Those dang carrots.

typically I've not been a big deer fan but this meal slapped me! The sauce with rice and veggies were a perfect combo with the venison. This is now my #1 go-to Peak meal when it's in stock.

Was my least favorite of the mendes meals, but not that it wasn’t tasty, had plenty of meat and full of flavor, did have a gamy hint(to be expected) that I think comes from grinding venison with the sliver skin on it.
