My favorite Peak Refuel meal!

4 of us ate it and all liked it.

Awesome tasty meals in the backcountry
Cosette R.
Tastes delicious! I've actually eaten this while not backpacking bc I was craving it after my last trip. It's got a dynamic flavor with a hint of spiciness that's really good. I also really appreciate the recipe update to not include milk (I'm allergic)! It is REALLY hard to find dehydrated meals that don't have milk but DO have a meat besides chicken, so this was a huge score:)
Paul .
Too sweet! Flavor is ok but just too sweet.

Amazing, wholesome meals! Gives all the energy you need in the field

I've been buying freeze dried foods for years, mainly for emergency use or disasters, but in uncertain times, it's best to be ready for whatever comes. I spent most of my life in Hurricane alley, and have gone weeks without power. SO, having tried most of the brands out there, I came across Peak meals by accident and decided to give them a try. WOW, these meals are not just good, but they are top notch in all aspects. The sweet pork and rice is my favorite, followed closely by the berry dessert and peach cobbler. Unlike many of the meals in this category, Peak doesn't over salt or over spice the entrees to make them work; important when limited water is an issue. ALL in ALL, my favorite brand.
Teunis W.
Very sweet. Too sweet. I have one more to get through and won’t be buying this one again.

Best backing food out there

I love how convenient peak products. Tasty and you just need hot water and you're set. Great for backpacking, camping, or on road trips. Thank you. I highly recommend.
Elesia A.
I don't go camping. I ordered these to have in my pantry for emergency food. I tried a few of these meals & I LOVE THEM !!! They are very delicious .. Tastes like I cooked these on my stove from scratch.. I eat these whenever I don't want to cook or I take a pouch to work for lunch, lol.. These are certainly worth the cost !! Ordering more.
Dana H.
So good! This is the best meal they make in my opinion besides the Biscuits and Gravy. Filling, big portions, loaded with real meat and 5 star flavor! Repeat buyer.
Roger
I can’t get enough peak and my kids love it too.
Keaton W.
I would eat this at home. Absolutely delicious for rehydrated food!
Andrew G.
My favorite peak meal!! Tastes better than most restaurants and very filling.
matt c.
Love the sweet pork and rice. These meals and the quality can not be beat.
Wm
Great flavors, overall one of my favorite meals so far.
John K.
I was very impressed with the flavor and consistency of the texture. I would highly recommend this meal.
Sean H.
This one is definitely a meal I like and am purchasing again. Just use 1-1/4 cup of water to make it and let sit in pouch for 21 mins w a kitchen towel wrapped around it. The rice will come out totally done as it should be. This is the one meal I haven't had to add anything to in the way of spices and if it had to feed 2 people it totally could. The pork is real as usual with Peak.

So I've tried every brand of dehydrated meal under the sun and have always had issues, either it turns out soupy, it's got crunchy bits, it's both soupy and crunchy, tastes awful and often times make me feel bloated and gassy. I experienced none of that with this meal. Reading the founders words on the bag is I was fixing to make this I said to my hiking partner "thats a really bold statement to make, I'll be the judge of that" not only did it reconstitute perfectly but it used half as much water just as it said, and it tasted like something right out of a 5 star kitchen, I couldn't believe it was a dehydrated meal and actually ripped the bag open so I could lick the thing clean, before hitting the sack after a 20 mile day with a very happy belly. 1000% I'll absolutely be buying more of these for future trips and I can't wait to try some other flavors too.
Brian M.
Sweet Pork and Rice has been a favorite of mine for years. The taste is great and it seems like there is more mass in this bag than most of the others. However, I think this, and most rice meals, need more water than what is recommended. Also, the meat sometimes seems stringy, but the flavor is good. This meal is always in my backpack.
David V.
Probably one of my favorite backcountry meals. Great flavor and variety.
Philip S.
The quality and taste of this meal is crazy great!
I am out on the trail backpacking and camping 30 days a year. I have tried every major brand of freeze-dried meals. The reasons that I now only purchase Peak 2 Refuel: Real meat and NO fillers. Major source of protein. Peak 2 Refuel package ingredients use significantly less sodium, cholesterol, sugar, and chemicals VS their competitors. This to me is extremely important! There is a good reason why the expire date on Peak 2 Refuel is about 2 or 3 years VS their competition that I have seen expire dates typically 15 to 25 years. Because their competitors’ products are loaded in chemicals!
Sean H.
Another good meal but I advise to use at least 1 -1/4 cup of water to ensure the rice and corn is cooked, also wrap pouch with a kitchen towel and let sit for 21 minutes. I make these at home and put pouch in pot I boiled water in and tuck the towel in around it. Definitely sweet but very good, the pork is - as usual - a good amount of meat. Why the water amounts are a bit off I don't get especially for cooking outdoors, still lowering amount for the Chicken Pesto, will try just 1 cup next time, use 1-1/4 cup for the Beef Stroganoff. I still feel that Peak Refuel has the best dehydrated meals you can buy for home or outdoor/hiking and you can always try them at home. Thanks Peak!

These are very simply put....Restaurant Quality Meals
Edna C.
One of our favorites..
WILLIAM B.
Everything Peak has put out has been great. Much better than the competition
Colby H.
One of our favorites! Dairy and Gluten free so it works for everyone. Sometimes we bring tortillas and make burritos with this as well.
David M.
My wife and I both enjoyed it, would eat it at home when not in the mood to cook.
Tim J.
The flavors are great, will try it again. One minor adjustment I would make is to dial the brown sugar back just a Iittle. I liked the sweet tones but just wished it was a little more subtle
Sam M.
. The sweet pork ohhhhh man it's good . For a freez dried food it's flavorful and it does taste like sweet pork . I would go so far to say it's home cooking quality .
Craig W.
Excellent flavor! Wife and I enjoyed the sweet pork and rice on a recent visit to the Grand Canyon. Will definitely order again!
Patricia W.
I can't say enough good things about Peak Refuel meals. Good ingredients, nicely proportioned and they taste like home cooked meals. I will definitely be re-ordering soon!
Daniel B.
The items purchased are stored in a go bag in case of an emergency do to current government policies and actions.
Philip S.
GREAT TASTE! Very healthy list of ingredients.
HALF the sodium and sugar as other manufacturers
of Freeze-Dried foods.
Peak Refuel is indeed the standard for Premium
Freeze-Dried foods.
Jeff L.
It was a great dinner after a long backpacking trip
Kimberly S.
One of my favorite dinners in the backcountry. Price is great too!
Jeff L.
Love your dehydrated meals after a long backpacking trip to a high Mountain Lake
Charlie W.
Sorry I didn’t make a video but everyone in the camp loved the Sweet Pork and Rice, it makes a fantastic burrito with a little cheese and hot sauce.
Jan v.
Easy to order, arrived timely, was well packaged and just what we were looking.
brian a.
Needs significantly more water than called for.
michael n.
Sweet pork and rice is my all time favorite meal. Deep in the Colorado mountains it keeps me going when I need it the most.
Timothy D.
Tastes great. Smells great. Looks great. Don’t use to much water when preparing and it’ll be delicious.
Kenneth K.
Im trying the Sweet Pork and Rice for the first time. I followed the direction exactly and after about 10 mins the food was uneatable. Not enough water.Guys please get your amout of water correctly.a Cup(8 oz) is not enough the food was mostly uncooked. Im going to try adding about 4-6 more oz of watter for another 10 mins and see if i eat it. If its still ineatable im wont buy anymore.
Lisa B.
Tested this one out in the kitchen before hitting the trail with it. It’s going to be perfect wrapped up in a tortilla with some string or powdered cheese. The texture was great. The portions were good enough to make four good sized tacos. This picture is a whole bag on a dinner plate to gauge the size since I split my meals with my hiking partner.
Meg W.
I was a little hesitant about this meal because it didn't seem like something I would love. But the pork is so tender and flavorful after rehydrating that it's mind boggling. I'm constantly blown away by how fresh these meals taste. It was quite filling and I felt like I was rolling out of my grandmother's house after a holiday meal, ha ha! The sauce has a nice sweetness to it. The only thing I didn't care for so much was that there is a hint of something hot/spicy in it which doesn't agree with me due to a minor health issue. Not terribly hot, but I had no idea it might be spicy, so just be aware if you can't eat or don't enjoy spiciness. I probably won't be able to have it again but if I could I would!
Lisa G.
A little sweat for me but that's probably how it should be considering American taste buds.

Wasn’t sure what to expect, I randomly bought this with a mix of mountain house and other brands. I regret not buying more of this flavor/brand, this is the best freeze dried meal I’ve ever had.
Matt R.
The first Peak meal I had, randomly picked it up with a host of others for a big camping trip. Glad I had it on the last night or I'd have been bummed for each dinner after that. It's seriously good, good enough that I'd pay for it in a restaurant and not be mad good. I'll be sticking with Peak from here on out.
Jayson H.
I was expecting some bland sweet soy sauce fried rice flavor. I was WAY off. This stuff is great, its like a sweet/spicy southwestern take on fried rice and I'm all for it. You could serve it on a plate and I'd be happy! (Although the pork kinda gives it away, I'd add 1.2 cups of water to ensure non-dry pork). I'm a skinny Asian dude who doesnt eat much but I ate the whole 2 servings. Best camping menu I've had!
Corey B.
Sweet Pork and Rice is my favorite meal by Peak Refuel. It really is sweet and then salty pork, so delicious.
Harold B.
Tired of another brands somewhat bland tasting meals, I decided to try Peak's meals. Being a fan of BBQ pulled pork, I decided to try the sweet pork and rice. WOW! I was hooked! This was a very delicious meal. The flavors didn't give away that this was a dehydrated meal. The meal rehydrated very well with the rice not being crunchy. The portioning was also very good as a pack has two servings but if you're doing strenuous hiking, one pack (2 servings) works great!
I immediately restocked for my next adventure! I tried some of the other Peak meals as well and they were all very good!
Bradford C.
Dadgum, thats good!!! Seriously the best meal in a bag Ive ever eaten!! Just wish the pack included more of ghese instead of chili!! So delicious!!
Wm L.
This was one of the first Peak refuel meals I tried. Hardy portion size, very flavorful and didn't seem to be as salty as other (unlike competitors) freeze dried options on the market. A definite 2 thumbs up!
Justin C.
I carried a small ziploc of cheddar cheese and tortillas, and this pork in a makeshift taco at 11,000 feet was pure bliss. I’ll snap photos next time. I was too busy eating!
Kirstan S.
After a very steep climb to this lake I was excited to try a peak refuel meal and was very pleased with the taste. I do alot of backing and always looking for food that taste good and these this two meals were outstanding. Cant wait to try more good product
Graham
So far I’ve tried 3 of the 4 meals that I ordered from Peak Refuel, and while they are all 5/5, this is probably my favorite so far. We are trying out different meals in anticipation of our upcoming thru hike. I made this meal this morning and packed it for my lunch, and every single co worker approached me asking what this is because it looks and smells so good. It’s a winner!
Suzette B.
We were in the Montana mountains and it was cold!!! Heating up boiling water and pouring it into the Peak bags was a cinch... even with freezing fingers. When it was time to eat, we were impressed with the taste and flavor of the food. We commented to eachother that we have ever eaten something more delicious. I thought it might just be because it was cold and we were camping so I tested the food after returning home just to see... It really was that good! The taste was amazing, the prep and cleanup were sooo easy and was easy to have in our packs while backpacking. The picture is of our base camp and we relied on Peak food for the entire backpacking trip and I had never eaten so well on a backpacking trip as this one. Plus, we didn't feel bloated and gassy, just well fed and happy. I love Peak food!
Heather D.
I love this meal! I love the sweet taste and pulled texture of the pork. I've taken it on a bunch of trips but my favorite is when I pack in some sweet Hawaiian rolls and make a pulled pork sandwich out in the backcountry. Highly recommend that you buy this. Peak is my new go to brand for backcountry meals
Nicki S.
This exceeded my expectations! Peak is my favorite for camp meals because they are easy and delicious. Each meal packs so much flavor and sweet pork and rice did not disappoint!
Franchesca B.
Love to day hike & road trip. I’m an ex chef so I know & love good food. I compare all the pack food companies and Peak hands down won across my criteria. I even chose a meal I’d hate, if you can win me over with a meal I didn’t think I’d like the you’ve won my patronage!
Super lightweight, real quality ingredients, no non descript fillers, low water needed, quick & filling and tastes A-mazing! Thank you! I just wish you had desserts too
Eric W.
By far the best one I've had so far. Of course it's sweet. They tell you in the description. Not sure why some idiot thought it wouldn't be sweet and gave it a bad review even though they said they actually liked it. It has LOTS of pork and cooked pretty fast.
Clint
Perfect with some flour tortillas or pita bread.
Grant G.
Favorite meal of my 7 day trip! I had high hopes for this meal and not only did it not disappoint it exceeded my expectations. The perfect balance of sweet, savory and spicy. I will absolutely be ordering this again!
Kristen Waldron
I tried the Sweet Pork and Rice this summer on an overnight hike. My favorite Mountain House meal was out of stock, so the sales clerk recommended this and...wow! I am pretty sure my fellow hikers were sick of hearing how much I loved this meal. It tasted so good, like I was back in the valley eating a sweet pork burrito. I've had a lot of freeze dried meals and this was the best ever.
Marsha
me and my husband had some meals on hand. After not having anything ready for dinner, I decided to try the sweet pork and was blown away. The meals tasted home cooked with lots of fresh flavor. I can see why these meals come in 2 servings because you will want to eat the whole thing! Very tasty and filling.
Dusty Beecroft
I planned a fishing trip and didn’t have any meals planned. We thought it would be a good time to try out these new meals since we were in a hurry. I was completely impressed by the quality and taste of the sweet pork and rice. I’m a big guy and was worried that I wouldn’t get filled up. I got 3/4 of the way through the bag and was full as can be. I’m excited to try the other flavors if they are half as good as this one.
Brion Webb
I was blown away with the flavor of this meal! My wife said she would eat this on the regular and not just when we are in the mountains. The real shredded pork is amazing. We have had a lot of backpacking meals over the years and this one tops them all. Thanks for bringing home cooked goodness to the back country.
