The package leaked out of the bottom. It didn’t hold enough water to fully cook and the stream of flavored water attracted lots of squirrels to our site. We moved our tent to another site.

Love the product, but nothing disappoints a guy more than when you buy a bunch of meals on sale from Peak, and a couple days later someone else has a better deal on the same meals you just bought. I would think that buying direct from Peak would land you the best deal available.

This takes about 9.5 ounces of water to hydrate/reconstitute correctly. The Mushrooms are chewy and the sauce is off-puttingly funky, and the carrots were chewy. There is not enough chicken in this as well. Also this did just make barely enough for two people. This could have used some salt and pepper, because it does not stand well on its own. It was just O.K. to digest with mild stomach upset. Fair-good value for price vs. Calories for survival or backpacking! Just average Freeze Dry meal by comparison to others.

I will give it 5 stars based on what I have seen others have given it over time. This food is being held in reserve for a time and place where it is most needed. It will remain unopened until such a time occurs or it needs to be cycled out of storage due to its age. If other reviews indicate it is of superior taste and quality, then be it as they have stated.

This (homestyle chicken and rice) was the first Peak Refuel meal that I've ever had. It was easy to prepare and delicious - honestly so much better than anything I've ever gotten from Mountain House.
I'd say it was the best freeze-dried meal I've ever had... but the backcountry bison bowl I had for dinner the next day was even better! Very impressed with Peak Refuel, I am going to order more.

Another Peak Refuel meal that checks all of the boxes.... hearty & filling, packs light, easy prep & great taste. Just like eating a home cooked meal even in the backcountry! If I had a criticism it would be that the instructions say to add 1 cup boiling water. While it rehydrates everything well, it leaves the sauce a bit more "pasty" than I'd prefer. It's an easy fix though simply by adding 1/4 to 1/3 cup more water depending how thin you want your sauce. All-in-all, another winner from Peak Refuel!

I had this for lunch today,,, AAA+ Peak Refuel.. This stuff is delicious. Big slices of carrot, big chucks of Chicken and that creamy sauce. yum yum..The only thing I would like to see with PR is some Lower Carb meals

Grateful for these meals! My brothers working in freezing temps in the middle of knowhere with limited access to grocers and these packs were not only good they were a lifesaver! He said once he figured out how much water to add for his liking he enjoyed all the meals. Will be buying again.

We were pleasantly surprised by the flavor and portion size. We bought this food not for camping, but as emergency food should we need it due to an earthquake or other natural disaster.. It was kind of funny, we didn’t know what to have for dinner and my wife suggested trying the freeze dried camping food. We bought three other varieties and will weigh in on those In the future. Again we were pleasantly surprised by how good that food was!

I section hike the Appalachian Trail which is very close to my home. 2-5 day trips I always have some kind of freeze dried meal for dinner. Peak Refuel tastes the best out of the ones I’ve tried. The only down side is they have two servings per pouch, which is great for the money but sometimes it’s hard to eat it all, so I either give it away or throw it out. I wish they made these in single servings as I hike alone a good bit.

I had been backpacking all day when I sat down exhausted. I threw my gear to the ground....and broke out this Homestyle Chicken and Rice. I followed the instructions on the package--and was blessed with a scrumptious treat. I am not going to lie---this chicken meal is perhaps the best freeze-dried dinner I have ever tasted. Often, we accept mediocrity in our backcountry cuisine--not anymore! I have tried all of the major brands out there, but none of them matches the quality and Peak Refuel. Kudos!
