I started eating Peak meals while I'm ice fishing this year. The beef stroganoff is almost as good as my mom's, home made beef stroganoff. This stuff is amazing. It tastes great and is easy prepare. I used to buy a competitors meals years ago. They were just ok. Some tasted like flavored cardboard. Peak meals taste like home cooked meals. The beef was super tender and the mushrooms and noodles were the perfect consistency. I would definitely recommend this.

I bought this for emergencies, after a taste test it became clear my efforts to maintain a supply for emergencies was in vain. These taste absolutely legendary, the best beef stroganoff I’ve had in my life Nevermind the fact it’s freeze dried meant for a weekend camping trip, backpacking, or my case intended for shtf. This is so flavorful and has a great sour cream flavor I’ve never seen in a stroganoff but it adds so much depth to it, the meat seems to be some sort of steak not a ground meat you’d expect, everything re hydrated amazingly absolutely worth every penny

What a great tasting meal. I’ll start off by saying this is the first time trying any meal from Peak Refuel. I wanted to try a dehydrated meal that was low in sodium and high in calories, protein, and carbs. The beef stroganoff meal hit all the check boxes and them some as it tastes really really good. I’m planning some overnight backpacking trips along with some road trips and will be buying more from Peak Refuel to cover all of my outdoor and emergency preparation needs. I got the spoon as well and it is spot on.

Excellent. My buddy had a different brand. We shared to compare. His wasn’t good. He will be buying Peak now. I decided to add more water than suggested to suit my taste and texture. This extended the time a few minutes but I think that ensured the largest pieces of meat were completely hydrated.

The beef stroganoff is delicious.
I am not sure what the issue is with some people saying the meat is crunchy…..mine turned out perfect. Just make certain to add enough hot water (10.5 ounces) and wait 10 minutes. I stirred mine a couple times too.
Anyway…the taste is exceptional. Springy pasta, big chunks of beef and mushrooms in a rich, creamy sauce. It is seasoned well too…enough salt for a good flavor.

Cooked it at home. Me and the wife liked it. Tasted a little chalky, but was still good.
Next time I may add a cup of water instead of 3/4 cup. I let stand an extra 5 minutes.
After we tasted it, I added a little bit of milk and velveeta cheese and microwaved a bit.
But overall we enjoyed it !

I have bought several of the flavors and have just tried the beef stroganoff. I don’t eat much at a time so I broke it into 1/2 servings so I don’t have to worry about storage or reheating. I brought them along on travel to try out. Not outdoors, just hotel in foreign country to make sure if I can’t find anything decent locally or something that I have something to fall back on. I have to say I am impressed with the quality and flavor. I had a little too much water because I didn’t have anything to measure with. This actually tastes like food. Very pleasantly surprised and look forward to trying the other flavors.

Out on a hike with the family, the hot topic is always food. We have tried many brands of freeze dried food, mostly to keep it light and attempt to satiate our bellies. Not always with success. Recently we discovered Peak Refuel. It is not a stretch to say Peak Refuels Stroganoff is by far the best!! We buy it in multiples and gift it to our friends. I ordered a few PEAK meals before my Colorado Mule Deer to see how my body handled them before spending 10 days in the mountains. I heard a podcast about the ingredients and what goes into each meal but I was skeptical about the taste and how little water was needed to rehydrate the meal. The first bite of the Beef Stroganoff was all I needed to know. WOW, this meal is legit good! How the heck this meal rehydrated with just 6 oz of water is like magic. Peak is coming with me for all my back country and camping adventures.

Wow! Took this camping after a loooooong hike and I had mediocre expectations but wow. Wow!!! This was amazing! Easily my favorite backpacking meal of any brand! So much flavor and so filling. I was so sad I only brought one because I would have eaten two! This will definitely be a regular in my hiking and backpacking rotation!

The Peak 2 Beef Stroganoff is one of the better freeze dried meals I've had. The flavor is good and the portions are very generous. My packaging said to use 6 ounces of water, this was not enough to rehydrate all of the beef cubes, as some were rather chewy. Next time I make this particular meal I'll use at least 8 ounces of water. Recommended.

Ya'll know how it is when on trail.. Any food tastes amazing. But I must say, this exceeded all my expectations. The night before I ate this one, I had eaten another brand of freeze dried backpacking meals that was pretty lackluster. So when I poured the hot water in the this pack, I didn't expect anything great. No lie though, no exaggeration, the taste was on par with my mom's homemade stroganoff. I hesitate to say this lol because the price of these are already pretty high and any more positive attention might raise the price even mors. But you will taste exactly what you're paying for! If you're planning a 3-4 day trip, treat yourself to at least one of these recipes, I promise you'll not regret it

Hands down my favorite Peak meal! Don't tell my mom, but this is better than her Stroganoff! This meals doesn't turn to mush. The beef and mushrooms are awesome and add a lot of flavor to the meal, rather than being disguised by an overly salty sauce i've had from other brands stroganoff.

I rehydrated the Beef Stroganoff as instructed. Since I had this meal snow camping, I put the pouch in a cozy, and waited 15 minutes instead 10 minutes. Opened the pouch and what a great aroma. First tasting was perfect. Then I bit into the beef cube and disappointment. It was still crunchy. I stirred the Stroganoff and sealed it for another 5 minutes. Tried again but the beef cubes were still crunchy. The flavors and noodles are great, but the beef cube format is not good. Maybe if it was thinner or in strips, it might have worked. I would not buy this again despite the great flavors.

Peak makes some of the best meals either my wife or I have ever had on the trail!! The Beefy Strogey is by far their best meal and SO filling. Its hard to find meals that pack a good amount of protein and carbs while still tasting good, and Peak nailed it with this meal!!!! The huge mushroom pieces are fantastic and the texture of the meat is oh so good. We make ours with a touch less water than they recommend but other than that, OUTSTANDING!!!!

2019 was the first year we used Peak for our Elk hunts and they were a game changer in terms of stamina. Peak meals enabled great recovery day to day over the competition due to the high protein content. Probably the best pack meal going right now. The flavor is unbelievable. High protein, low sodium, and uses very little water yet rehydrates perfectly. If you haven’t tried this one I highly suggest you do. Make it for your kids or spouse and I guarantee they won’t know that you didn’t make it from scratch. It’s restaurant quality.

I tried the Stroganoff while on the PCT this summer. It is better then the stroganoff I have had in restaurants. My hiking partners said I was to expensive until they tasted it. I can’t wait for it to be back in stock.

All of you at PEAK really are amazing, so far I've only tried the Beef Stroganoff and if that's any indication of the peak you've reached then I'm sure that the rest of your products will not disappoint. You've taken freeze-dried meals to a whole new level with this one, it literally tastes like you've just cooked a real stroganoff at home with fresh sour cream and mushrooms, a perfect choice of pasta and nice chunks of beef, the only thing I add is fresh ground black pepper. Your choice of pasta noodles ensures they will be cooked, the mushrooms taste fresh, the beef tender with just the right amount of salt. I know you made this for backpackers with water being crucial so the amount is just enough, I use just a bit more to increase the sauce. I use your product as a great quick home meal and highly recommend it for emergencies, but if you're out there backpacking and at the end of your day? This will replenish you and you will be glad you chose PEAK. Thank you for making such a great product!
