Quick overnight backpacking trip here in Colorado. Wanted to try a new meal flavor so grabbed the Chicken Coconut Curry.
It did not disappoint. Lots of chicken. Lots of flavor after a roughly 10 mile up and down day. And full hydrated after it’s allotted time.
Peak Refuel meals are Definitely something to look forward to at the end of a day on the trail & setting up camp. Peak refuel definitely has the best dehydrated foods and drinks I’ve tased in my roughly 30+ years on the trails. (Wish we had these in the military-RCW’s not even close)
Only thing— wish you had low carb options. I personally am not supposed to have so much. Increase the fat- love the protein. If you do I haven’t found it.
And who eats only 1 serving? Hahahhahaha
David M.
Chicken Coconut Curry tasted great. I would have gave it a 5 if you actually had curry sauce in it and not dried up.
Gilbert S.
I really enjoyed the meal, I like a more brothy curry (so added just a touch more water) & a touch more heat (just added some Sambal), what a killer meal....
It'd be a great way to warm up if you're somewhere brisk..
Andrew D.
I was hesitant to try a curry freeze dried meal but this was REALLU good. Definitely buying more for future hunts.
Jeffrey L.
My absolute favorite PR meal. Very heavy on the protein, nice and flavorful without being spicy. 10/10

My wife and I are getting back to camping after many years. Freeze dried food was new back then and not very good. We wanted to try this improved version for the convenience. I bought this meal to increase the variety we had. My wife does not care for curry, nor for freeze dried food generally. This was the first meal we ate and it has changed my wife’s opinion of both curry and freeze dried. Well done!
David B.
This meal is great because it is filling, great flavor and not heavy. Sometimes when you have been working hard in the mountains I am tired and don't want a heavy meal. This is perfect for those days
Joe P.
Another fantastic tasting meal. I used to be a MH guy, but after sampling many of the Peak Refuel meals, I'm now a Peak convert.

Great dinner after a long day of paddling in deep Yellowstone

I tried the Chicken Coconut Curry the other night and can say that it was quite good. It didn't require alot of work to make it nor alot of water. The taste and texture were very good. I love the fact that there is no dairy in it due to being allergic to it.
Steven P.
One of my favourite meals.
Peggy
Great to have as a food reserve in case of emergency.

I hate this one on my first night of the trip and it was a WINNER! Might be my favorite meal! Definitely give this one a try. Highly recommend! And definitely recommend PEAK!

I wanted to try a new brand of backpacker meal for my 63km thru-hike. I got one of yours and one of another brand. OMG Your Chicken Coconut Curry is AMAZING! IT'S SOOOOO GOOD!!! I would totally buy that in a restaurant. This is the best meal I have had on the trail so far. I was scraping the bottom of the pouch to get every last bit! I now want to try all your other kinds to see if they are as amazing tasting.
By the way, the other new brand I tried was a fancy spaghetti meal. It tasted so bad I couldn't get through more than half the meal. Even though I was hungry I was trying to choke it down with water it was so nasty.
But yours....omnomnomnomnom.
The only cons:
-It says it's for 2 people but...no it's not. Honestly. After a hard day of hiking AND it tastes so freaking good, I ate the whole thing up and wanted another helping of it. It was filling but I just wanted more cause it was so tasty. I don't think this would be enough for two people.
-$19 CAD in the backpacker store was kind of steep. Although, I totally understand that freeze-dried food is expensive to make and you are providing premium quality food. You can taste the difference. But still, I'm a poor backpacker so I wish meals this good were a little affordable. I might purchase one of your packs online instead of buying in-store next time.
Wes C.
One of my new favorites.
Necota S.
I enjoyed the Chicken Coconut Curry. It was full of flavor and fulfilling. The self contained dinner left me wanting more. The texture was spot on and after having a long day at camp, it was nice to have a very tasty meal with minimal cleanup. I recommend putting the water amount necessary in metric (most camp kitchen setups are metric).
Chris S.
Not too bad but needs a bit more spice or something. It has a good curry taste but I have to do something to it to give it a bit more of a kick.
Amy B.
So good. These are game changers. After a solid day of backpacking, I look forward to these hearty meals. Loved this one!
Haley G.
This curry is my favorite peak refuel meal. I added a bit of peanut butter and it made it even better! They’re a bit on the expensive side, but I don’t mind since I only get them every now and then anyways. One pouch says two servings but when you’re hiking you’ll want a whole pouch to yourself + some snacks.
WILLIAM
Excellent addition to my food supply.

I used to get this from Southern Nutrition in Winter Garden FL, but they stopped carrying these. So ended up getting it from Peak Fuel. The curry chicken is the bomb!! The taste and flavor reminds me of Malaysian chicken curry. Spot on and hope this stay the way it is. Excellent macros and yum. Also, if you like it more moist, add a few tbsp of water or coconut milk. Delish!!
Emil K.
First time trying this and it's so good!!
Brian M.
The Chicken Coconut Curry and the Butternut Dal Bhat were new to us this trip and they were both great. We will take them both on all backcountry trips going forward.
Jessica H.
I so love this one beyond words. I also ordered a dozen off Amazon and they all have been gone. I have to order more. The only downfall on these delicious treats are that you just can't stop eating them
Edna C.
This ist personal favorite.
Yummmm

When I climbed Kilimanjaro in 1999 the backpacking meals tasted nothing like this!
Peak Refuel’s Chicken Coconut Curry is so delicious. Tender chunks of chicken meat, rice, large pieces of separately seasoned carrots and a sublime coconut curry sauce.
I add hot red pepper flakes to taste for a spicy kick before rehydrating. Consider adding a little packet of that!
Pro tip…remember to take the desiccant packet out before adding the hot water.
Lynn
First, let me preface my remarks with the fact that I do NOT like coconut. I bought the meal pack more or less to see if I would like it, or not. Because of the obvious coconut taste, I don't plan to purchase this one again. That said, that's a taste preference on my part & does not reflect at all on the quality of the meal. Despite not enjoying the taste, I did give the meal a 5-star rating because it prepped/heated easily, rehydrated very evenly (no soggy spots one place & hard, dry ones in others), the meat texture was just like eating fresh-cooked meat (not chewy or crumbly/grainy) and, even dividing the pouch into 2 meals, it was quite filling. If you're someone who enjoys coconut, I would definitely recommend this high-quality meal.

Really good! Personally I prefer a few of the other recipes but great to change it up. Had some of these on the Kalalau trail in Kauai and it felt very fitting.
Alfred G.
Very tasty and was actually cooked thoroughly in the allotted time.
RAYMOND S.
"I've tried all of the meals and its hard to pick my favorite, but if I had to pick one, this is it!"
Shannon B.
I absolutely loved it. Chicken was tender, carrots were sweet and sauce was delicious.
Sonja N.
My first Peak Refuel...loved this one!
Edna C.
Absolutely delicious.. Camping in Bodega Bay and this was perfect.
Tony G.
Close to home made.
Dale L.
Both me and my wife's favorite.
Steve S.
The flavor is awesome, but the rice needs a little extra time in the bag.
Tyler P.
Very good and filling. It's in my top five.
Jan v.
Easy to order, arrived timely, well packaged and just we we were looking for.
Andrew A.
The chicken coconut curry was amazing. It honestly is better than some carryout I've had. To be able to enjoy that, while sitting out a September rainstorm elk hunting was priceless. I will definitely purchase again.
Jordan B.
For what it is I can not complain. Could definitely have a deeper curry flavor but I would eat this any day in the mountains for sure.
Joel M.
Probably the best freeze dried meal I have ever had
Allen W.
My wife and I split this for lunch, I am traditionally not a curry fan but I truly enjoyed this. For years I purchased a popular competitor & while I enjoyed their product - Peak Refuel is on a whole nother level, I compare it to ordering out but without having to leaving your campsite.
Ben K.
Tastes great, easy prep, and light weight.
John B.
Very good food, i plan to use this hiking in the back country in Alaska on my vacation. Well thats the plan.
David
Loved this!
Great flavor, good texture, very filling.
Just ordered 3 more packages.
Jennifer C.
This is by far the best meal in a pouch I’ve ever had. The flavors are all there. The texture is perfect. I would put this up against any restaurant quality curry. This is completely happy food. 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Colby
Peak Refuel is hands down the best backpacking meal I've ever had! They taste so good, I'd eat them for a "nice" dinner at home. The coconut curry is probably my favorite, but I haven't had a single bad tasting meal from Peak.
Wosun D.
Easy-to-carry fast food with lots of calories to support my climb to the top.
Very convenient and portable food, lightweight design, ideal for mountain climbing, give your backpack to reduce the burden, and let you get enough calories to climb the peak.
Rob B.
Took this meal (and other refuels) on a 4 day alpine climbing trip. 50ish miles with 6,000 feet of elevation gain and 2,000 feet of loss.
This was the first time using these products and as with most new items I had some apprehension about trying them out in the backcountry. Suffice it to say my fears were not realized. These meals are great. I really liked this curry, it had great flavor and even my friend who doesn't like most freeze dried meals from other companies really liked the curry.
Also, as I stated the trip was pretty strenuous with heavy packs, bush whacking, boulder hopping, side hilling on loose scree, etc. These meals allowed me to cut back on the food I brought since they are calorically dense and have a lot of other nutrients. After a long day, these seemed to help with recovery as I was not sore or tired the next day. Also, I think that amount of food is just right. Some other freeze dried meals are these massive amounts of rice or pasta that takes some serious effort to get through. These meals seemed to be portioned well in that you don't really want any less or more.
The bottom line is I will definitely be ordering more.
Andrew C.
I am not a curry fan but tried this meal and was amazed at the great flavor. My very picky wife ate half the package which confirms how good this meal is!
Lanny H.
Not really my thing.
Casey S.
Yep. This is the stuff. After years of mediocre freeze dried meals, I’ve finally found a brand so good it’s worth sticking to! Can’t say enough good about this curry meal or any of PEAK’s meals! The texture and taste blow my mind every bite—it’s like you’re eating home-cooked food. Easy to prep, nice website, packaging, shipping time, customer service—like I said, this is the one.
Mar
We're not a fan of freeze-dried meals in general but this is yummy. We'll take this one again on any trip.
Kat R.
My husband and I tried the chicken coconut curry and it blew our minds how close to a restaurant style taste it had! Absolutely amazing! We also tried the stroganoff and that was great and had that homemade taste too!! We're hooked!!
Ron M.
Delightful flavor and textures. I loved the creamy coconut curry flavor immensely, and it was loaded with chicken. This will be found with me on the trail again.
WILLIAM G.
nice to have a tasty hot meal in the cold.
Rocky S.
This was one of the best backcountry meals I’ve ever had. The flavor is incredible and very hearty. Highly recommended if you enjoy Thai food.
Tara J.
The BEST backcountry Thai Curry, other brands just can’t compete.
Cameron D.
I had the coconut curry while camping and loved it! I ordered more and ate one for dinner instead of going out. It’s actually as good as curry you’d get at a restaurant!
Bryan H.
I have always been a fan of Thai Food, so I was especially stoked when I saw PEAK had made the Chicken Coconut Curry! Fresh food, flavor was incredible, and it was extremely satisfying after a long day hiking the hills.
